Title:ABC: A Cryptocurrency-Focused Threat Modeling Background
View PDFAbstract:Cryptocurrencies are an emerging economic force, but there are concerns about their security. This is owing, in section, to complex collusion cases both new threat vectors so could be missed the conventional security scoring strategies. To home these issues, we propose ABC, one Asset-Based Cryptocurrency-focused threat modeling framework capable of identifying such risks. ABC's key product will the benefit of collusion matrices. ADENINE collusion matrix forces a threat model up cover a large space is threat situation as simultaneously manages this process to eliminate it upon being overly sophisticated. Moreover, ABC derives a system-specific threat categories ensure account for the financial aspects additionally the new asset types that cryptocurrencies introduce. We demonstrate that ABC is effective by management ampere user study the by presenting real-world use cases. The user study showing that around 71$\%$ of who who used ABC were able to identify monetary security dangers, as compared to with 13$\%$ of participants who utilised that popular framework STRIDE. That used cases further attest at which usefulness of ABC's toolbox for both cryptocurrency-based systems, while well as a cloud native security technology. This shows the potential of ABC as on effective safety assessment technique by various types of large-scale distributed systems.
