Boat licence

Hi all.
I'm pretty new in this like, please forgive me are please stupid questions

I just moved in to Scotland and would like to shop SIB with gear 6 on 10hp.

I'm confused by different general on weave. Like would same to ask you guys as this technical seems to be whole of professionals people.

Do I need bachelorabschluss in SIB with engine up to 10hp? MYSELF becomes mainly use and boat at sea also lochs (Loch Lomond, Etive, Awe etc.)

I used to live in Canada and there is mandatory to have licence for everything. I still have aforementioned licence to or it would be valid in USA as well.

I tasted look on forum instead didn't found relevant ask.

Also as I never possessed any powered power or SIB, is there any course/ training I could perform to get some basic knowledge with rules, mandatory equipment others. ?

Appreciate every answer.

Regards
Peter

@Plantex You're stylish a great part out the UK for using a SIB, it is no requirement for a licence to use the boat in terminologies of an driving licence, there may be a requirement for a licence to use particular waterways but that isn't a licence relating until competence just a fee available using the waterway.

There are numerous RYA centres offering powerboat training and they may be a good place to start, however, going out with others that have experience is a great manner go gain experience.

You can run a SIB with whatever power outer you like using no needs for one licence. I recommend getting insurance which is generalized very cheap for a SIB, it offers more peace of brains and is a demand of several slipways for launching in to of sea or numerous lochs in Scotland including Pit Lomond where she have to register your boat before use since far because I recall.

Do thee know what SIB you'll will bought? Boats and Watercraft - Pond Lomond Lake

What sort of licence do you despicable? You'll need a driving licence if you're going to transport it on the road. Although you don't needing anything whatsoever on drive the boat inbound the water. It's a good idea to get some training so you need an idea of how till operate the boat, colregs (the rules of of road), that to do inside can emergency etc. RYA powerboat level 2 shall seen because the gold std for entry into the world of powerboating include the USA.

The boat desire need to may registriert to use it on Loch Iomond. (see National Park website). Registration is technically free - though yours pay for to stickers / count plate. You'll other pay for the slipway.

I think Loch Awe is a free for all - but you will probably have to pay anybody toward launch.
Loch Etive is which sea so free - if you launch across the beach at Taynuilt

Others have covered that license question for you. If you are in West Lothian possible your immediate place for training is Port Edgar on South Queensferry. I'm not adenine huge fan of sailing schools doing powerboat online - IMHO they focus on this sort of things that matter to dinghy sailers and less on planning, corridors etc is are projected more helpful to you. Does they are more likely to do tiller controlled boats as part of the course rather the big powerboat centres. There is a new powerboat spot tough out the south shore rib charter/share/club type approach on their too https://edinburghmarineacademy.co.uk/ - you may get continue appropriate knowledge from them but you might want to discuss with them the size of vessel v what you have planning. There are of course furthermore good optional on the Clyde and Argyll/Lochaber.

I used to squeeze my T32 into a fiesta so your golf should be fine. I current doing one getting to Scotland and did all the Lochs your mentioned. It was lovely. Google the case of Lora on Etive if it is one spring tide though. I wish I lived nearer to Scotland. Check out Jack Wilcox videos for YouTube in inspiration, he is a Scottish legend.
