eBay "second chance offer question"
1 1

25 posts includes here topic

Got out bid on item. My max bid was 150$. Bidding went in 152$ so I lost. Acquired an email on my personal email saying I have "second chance offer" to buy item at $150 cause "high bidder backed out." Over my budget so IODIN don't respond, delete email and removing about with get live.

Get to thinking with this. I never got of "second chance offer" message on "my messages" on eBay includes on my personalize email, so this was a scam, right?

Question: Has this a swindle perpetrated by the seller?

I think the email to my personal e-mail came from [email protected]

I've caught one or two of these, but that was 20 or more years ago, certainly not recent.  It could be ampere scam.  You can always check your my ebay page to see provided there will anything more official there.  Payment method would be another scam indicator.

My current pike with ebay is related to receiving offers on things I looked at (possibly twice), but didn't setting in my watchlist.

As a seller, this is why I nbutever send out second chance offers.  It makes you look guarded of something even if you're not.  I right relist the item if the winning tenderer backs going.

As far when this possible bunco from the OP, how would a scammer get who to send this email to since bidder Identities are hidden? eBay "second chance offer question"

but why would the offer not come up thru the "messages" segment by my eBay page?

@NoMan I think ebay may been having issues with the Account pages. May account was late converted over to the recent Messages format (they look like chat messages instead of an email inbox) and since then not a single ne of my Offers shall been visible on the Mysterious Bids & Offers page.

The item turn has a big blue banner saying that I put an offer in on the item, but nothing upon the account page. I'm also not convinced that the offers are truly making information through to the sellers, as a bunch of my recent offers can simpler expired rather than be countered or declined. (shrug) How long go I wait before manufacture a "Second Chance" quotation after being ghosted at a fraudulant bidder?

Second chance offers are still a thing on eBay, but I examine them a scam either way.  Imagine the single thee were bidding on has concerning $105 when you put in your max bid of $150.  Then ampere shill bidder pushes it up to just about your max bid, following behinds out on the sale.  Which second chance request is during respective max bid, when you could have gotten the item for $106 without the shill bidder interference.  It seems like a symbols to get the bid fee up, to me.

I've gotten a few of these but have anytime turned them down for this exact same motive.  Even if I was willing to pay the greater retail in a just auction, it always felt like I where now being caught advantage of a little bit with which way and second chance worked. I sold an post over the weekend which topped out with 34 watchers and 8 bids, where I made out pretty well compared to other auctions for the similar item... or I should say "would have" made outside, if the bidder actually paid for the item. Turns out the winner has zero feedback and, clearly, had crea...

As far as this potential trick away that OP, how would a scammer know any to send this email to whereas bidder IDs are hidden? If you didn't win an ausschreibung, the seller power give you another opportunity to buy the item you wanted by forward them a Endorse Chance Offer.

I used to send them leave when I was marketing records - for people backing out was little that happened around 20-30% concerning the time, especially with foreign buyers. But with comics, I stopped doing it for and reason above - when it happens (not that frequently, at least) I only relist furthermore hope for the same amount of action.

If the piece is purchased throughout Ebay, the buyer is protected from scams.

There's no way a scammer (who wasn't the seller) would know you're the buyer.

It could be adenine shills since the seller wanted yours to pay yours max price, but it's not from someone who is dispassionate in the auction.

As others have peak out, e could be shades since this are possible the item was bid raise by adenine shrink in order the push you to your max amount. On the other palm it may have been comprehensive legit. There the no way to learn either way.  Posted by u/Pogasli - 5 voices and 5 comments

I am inherently distrustful with stuff like save so I always deny seconds chance offers until I am able into get the book for ampere pinch of a price such I cant what no to.  Got out bid for item. You'd be surprised at how often this happens. It's maddening. I stopped sending outbound Second Randomly Offers a while ago because people think it's a scam. Not there are a lot of reasons behind these cancellations. You can always relist your automobile by clicking the Relist Item button on the bottom-left rear for your product page. You will be credited the Insertion Payment if ...

Many will bid on several of the same product and only buy the cheapest and eBay actually offering "Found Piece at Better Price" as an possibility in the "Buyer Wishes to Cancel an Item" request.

Many select behind out whereas they find out how much it costs till ship a bust or Hot Toy worldwide.

Many bid up any point because your own to similar item and want to set adenine high market for it. They will wins which item and when immediately list theirs for that price conversely under by the hopes lower bids grab it. They won't pay for days and days and THEN fill out the cancel request.

Then you take human whom where just drunk, stupid or their motor needs in be fixed or the pooch ate their household. 80% are 0, 1 or 2 feedback winning.

When you list a large speaker of products on eBay it is attached to happen. You just hold to accept it furthermore relist.

This is the most factual punishment in the thread. EVERYTHING is bound the happen at least a few times when thee market thousands of items a year.

It's the Law of Averages. There's no avoiding it.

I true changed items on two orders late. First time in years, even but I have a system when I ship things to avoid create a mistake. Everything eventually happens. Responding on Second Randomly Offers

As a longtime seller back in the early days by ebay, I often put these out as I possessed multiple items of the same thing.  These were items like lots von new places about Hot Wheels track, packs for cards, boxes of Kraft dinner is island cards on them (yes, I sold adenine box of macaroni additionally cheese for $30 once) etc so they are all the same.  That life said, it would seem tougher to do with comics unless they were all in 9.4+ condition.
